Retrofit Garage Sale

Besides the endless drinking and BBQing this Memorial Day weekend, we stopped by Cal and his Pop's place for the Retrofit garage sale.  Lot's of good shit and good people.  The bikes decided to chill in the yard, which made for some cool pics.  (WAY better ones here! - http://captcals.blogspot.com/

Joe's Pan:  the epitome of cool.  He hooked me up with some 4 over 41mm tubes, which are perfect for the front end I'm building.  Thanks again!
Then some of us took a cruise out to the Rickey Farm, the picturesque site for Strange Days.  The bikes ran great and the food and beer were abundant, definitely an awesome Memorial Day weekend of riding and chilling with good people.

Ride to Skate 5 / shake down run

So friday evening i got the shovel back together after a rear sprocket problem, i just finished the build on this gal tuesday, not enough cash for a rear brake front only haaa, I put about 20 miles on her. So i guess Ride to skate 5 would be a perfect shake down run! I rode out to Nicks place in Bath, P.A friday night and met up with him after the Delware water gap around 11:30pm, Riding thru a star lit night in Nj then into fog and some rain in Pa it felt great to be cruising on this death trap but hey i made the first 70 mile trek to Bath

Soo Saturday morning we got a early start and met up with Nicks brotha Michael and their buddy Michael at the garage somewhere in the sticks of P A. Somehow are early start turned into a lane splitting engine mis firing race down Broad St 15 mins to late arrival at FDR.

nicks softail

2 miles down the road from fdr and the shovel couldnt stop crackling and poping so we pulled over, turned out my point gap closed up on me so instead of being 18 thousands it was more like 2 thousands of a gap, match book feeler gauge later and as Willie Nelson sang..... on the road again

we made it down to the skate park in baltimore to find out everyone left to go and party, hmm not a bad idea so we went to get groovey are selfs, got to drinking beers, talking about nonsense checking out some rad moon machines and of course ended up at a strip club! Rise and shine Sunday morning and it was a great ride thru the Omish country!! After splitting up with the crew up towards Bath P.A. I was solo goin back to the NJ. all in all it was close to a 500 mile weekend and the budget build shovel made it!!!! Great weekend of bikes, miles, sunshine, and beers.
Its not the destination, but the journey in between

headlight mount & sissy bar

finished the metal work on the headlight bracket, started with half inch square stock gave it some twisting and shouting, welded the 3/8 spacers to the end of the square stock and the headlight bolt mount was 2 pieces of angle, after couple hours of welding and grind work it turned into this creation!!!

made the sissy bar out of 1/2 inch round stock, started as a 10 foot piece, Joe ( captain cals pops) helped me out by doing the first bend at the local steel yard on his break so i can fit it in my 74 dodge dart. after couple measurement and making a jig on a plate of 1/4 inch steel i fired up the magical wand and made the bends

used another magical wand to cut out the mounting plates

Strange Bikes

Ken swung by today, despite the horrible weather, to help me diagnose some shovelheadaches of my own on his recently finished shovel chop.  I'm really impressed with this quick, yet super solid build.  It's looking and sounding fuckin awesome, but he was lacking a suitable seat for the moment.  My $10 swap meet special fit the bill perfectly, so the bikes posed in the rain for us to admire.

My narrowed wide glide front end is slowly coming together.  Ed from Unique Cycle (who is sponsoring and helping out with the event big time!) hooked it up with these shaved and chromed lowers from back in the day.  The chrome polish is going quick, but now these things are ready for some 6 over tubes!

NOS DSC Coffin Tail Light

Here she is chopper nerds, a new sealed in the original package, Drag Specialties coffin tail light.  These things are getting pretty tough to find, and especially in decent condition.  Well they don't get any nicer than this.  I would really love to hold on to this thing, but hey we gotta fund Strange Days!  Hit me up if you're interested in this little gem:  dripshovel@gmail.com

The pictures suck, but we know what we're looking at.

Oley, PA Swap Meet

I scored some seriously cool shit out in PA this weekend and we had an awesome time, as expected.
It's amazing that I actually have the left and right sides of these swooping Dynamite mirrors now.  ( and this one was never used!)

Ken's new narrow Z's are far out.

Looks like I'm going to be building a narrow 41mm front end now!  I also picked up the narrow 41 bottom tree in the back as well for a song.  I started hitting these with some chrome polish and they're looking purrty.

This old K model chop stole my heart.

Hollywood's knuckles are always the coolest bikes around.
